The Dispensary was crowded with people. Even then, there prevailed a beautiful silence. The dispensary was located in the suburb of the city, in the midst of rich greenery. Chairs were neatly arranged in the courtyard, near the garden. Our token number was forty five and we were waiting for our turn. Oh, for your curiousness, I and Risha. He had a stomach pain for the last few days and I thought he had better consult this doctor. He was lying by putting his head on my shoulder.
Then an old man of about seventy years old came in and sat besides us. He was panting heavily as like suffering from asthma. Breathing heavily he asked my token number. His number was fifty four. It was very difficult for him to wait there. But this problem was solved when I approached the doctor’s secretary and told her about this man. While he was going to make a move, he expressed his gratitude to me. “Always take somebody with you”. While taking him to the nearest bus stop I told him. Yes, God is always with me. He smiled and told me. I saw tears in his eyes. When I asked him about his family, He started his story. As like many senior citizens he was also leading a lonely life. Once upon a time he had a colorful family with four children. He gave his children a very nice life, taught them well. But after taking their professional degrees, they had their own plans. All of them went abroad and settled there, never find time for their parents. His wife was with him till her death. Now he leads a very lonely life, without complaints and never blaming his children, using the pension he was getting since he was in service.
Is it right to avoid our old parents and grandparents. When a man becomes old he needs more attention. Moreover it is our parents who did their best throughout their life to make their children happy. We are obliged to them always. What we have today is theirs too. Give them consideration, give them protection and give them the real warmth of love. Don’t forget that we also become old once in our life and may have to face the same situation. What would you say?
