BRIGHTEN DREAMS

Some people are   like that. Always devote their
lives for the betterment of the society Being with little means they will make huge results. I am saying this by thinking of Mr.Chandrakumar Pradhan, a retired school principal, still runs a school with weak infrastructure.

Our country is well known for her versatile nature, unity in diversity. For thousands of years she is carrying and pervading aculture with which nothing can be exchanged. Gurus and sages here made the educational system divine. Being educated shows enlightenment of the soul by knowledge and the knowledge is divine. Such an important was given to education by the ancient people of India, during the ages of Vedas. Ancient universities like Nalanda and Thakshasila clearly reveals the thirst of ancient people towards being educated. The time witnessed for the metamorphosis of modern India through generations and still being proud of our country’s educational system. Alas, there are a lot of people here struggling for to quench her thirst for being educated. It is the right of a person; it is the liberty of a person to acquire knowledge.

In the very remote area of Indo-Nepal border, a place called Megma,  Mr.Chandrakumar runs a three roomed school and teaches his children even after his retirement. Students reaches there by traveling kilometers by walking through the rough and tough mountain valleys filled with rocks and stones. The school is lack of proper facilities needed for an school. The teachers use faded and crack blackboards to write on and students’ sits on the shaky benches and have no proper stationary which are needed for a student. Being standing with his limitations Mr.Chandrakumar is saying that he will teach his students since he was very much fond of it.

It is our duty to help others. Knowledge is everlasting. It is the elixir of life. It makes a man more civilized. We have to support those needy people as much as we can. The concerned authorities also pay attention to this matter. Lets make better tomorrows by little deeds of kindness.

LOTUS

I may need your time
Need your five minutes,
For nothing but to make you know
How much this world like you.

Being on your chariot,
Wearing armor and sword.
To conquer new worlds,
You are ordering new troop.

What do you want to see again?
A new breed of aristocracy,
It is only a mere imagination,
Since lotuses come from the mud.

We are here for centuries,
Never look for a well pedigree
Born on dirt may grow on dirt
Never let you to rule over.

See our hands cracked on labor,
Bleeding for a day’s bread,
Still love each other and love you,
Come here to make one among us.

The way you have made is being shut,
The wheel of time did it for this age,
To arouse a second thought in you,
To sanctify your repenting soul

Turn your chariot and throw the sword,
We are here for the welcome song,
Let us sow the seeds of love
Rise brother for a better tomorrow.

FRIENDSHIP

Friendship is a sweet link that connects people. Net works like face book, twitter etc., all are based on friendship. A friend in need is a friend indeed. It is true, but one thing is real. It is not easy to get a best friend. There are people who may come to us for their needs, once their needs are fulfilled they may throw us like curry leaf. Betrayal and cheating is also common among friendship. I think that friendship is a most precious link that tightens relationships. We have to make the friendship more colorful and beautiful. According to me one should follow certain ethics in friendship.

  1. Never disclose the secrets of our friends to anybody.
  2. Never betray or cheat any of our friends.
  3. Never put hand in the personal and family matters of our friends without his permission.
  4. Try to see the friend’s family as like our family.
  5. Never think like ‘I have done that much to him, but he is not doing any thing to me’.
  6. Never expects anything in friendship.
  7. Be with our friend in the difficult situations and help him as we can.
  8. Always keep a limit.
  9. Always think that a friend is a person having his own taste and thoughts. Never try to overcome him. He is he and we are we. If by chance he and we  meet each other  it is friendship.

PLEASE....DON'T.......

We know that in a society lot of women decorating the status of housewives. Among them so many women have to face domestic violence and other types of tortures from their house holds even then they are protected against this by law. I am saying this by seeing a woman’s miserable life. I used to see her on my way. She is in her thirties, walks with quick steps carrying one or two plastic bags always in her hand with a sweated face. One day I noticed her sitting under a tree near the river bank and sobbing. On asking her she told me her story. Her husband is a drunkard spends each penny of his earning on liquor. She looks after her family by working as a house maid in two or three houses. Continuous working and torture from her husband and related tension leads her to depression. She doesn't know what to do except weeping. Drinking or not drinking is ones personal thing. Before doing it one has to think that some one will be there looking towards him for their protection, for giving their lives a meaning. Never take the habit of drinking or never make it a factor that destroys the happiness of a family.

TENSIONS..............TENSIONS...........

Two days back my friend Risha came to see me. He was very gloomy and sat beside me keeping silence. I knew he would tell about his problem and so I let him to be silent. After 5 minutes he told me that he had failed in his anatomy paper. Why should he so depressed about this? I wondered. Teenagers are always like this. They are unable to bear a tiny problem. Since failure is the pathway to success, why should he so tensed. In a man’s life one has to undergo through various difficult situations. Everyone will dream about reaching a good position in his life. For achieving this he has to work hard, write a lot of tests, face a lot of interviews. While looking around we can see that someone will be always winners and others losers. Have you ever thought about this? The losers always blame on their misfortune. The winners praise their luck. But what is the reality. I thought about this when I found my friend Suhail's nervousness at the time of his final exams. Only a short period was left behind and he had to cover the whole syllabus. He was in dilemma. I think a time tabled hard work is necessary for getting upgraded in any exams. Whatever may be the subjects one should have confidence about his own knowledge in that subject. Also he needs a systematic approach with a competitive spirit and also to face the situation with a clear mind. Then definitely the ball will be in his court.
Am I right??????????

PRINCIPLES OF SUCCESS

Selection, approach, planning - I think these three principles plays an eminent role in a man's life. Especially in the case of teenagers, it will work out soon. I am saying these by thinking about Iyan a teenager from my neighbourhood. He was a very good boy till his seventh standard. But when he promoted to the high school classes he became addicted to tobacco items and later to drinks and drugs. When I got a chance to speak with him, I knew that it was from his friendship circles he got these habits. Somehow, I managed him to get rid of these habits.
But one thing is very clear here. If he knows about the importance of selection and approach that leads to success, he won't be like this. Since a person is the basic unit of a society, the development of the society is also starts from each individuals. One should clearly know about this. Here selection, approach and planning will help a person to achieve success and thereby bring progress to the society also. So I think these three management principles should be taught to the students from the upper primary itself. What are you thinking about this?????????????

NO WAR, NO FIGHT

Who can be so cruel to human beings, there is no doubt, only man can. Who can bring changes that promote the development of humankind, only man can. It is a common truth. From the very long past, till today there are so many instances for it. The ancient world fought among themselves with swords and arrows to make themselves the supreme power. Their tendencies gradually changed to imprealism and colonisation which opened the doors for first and second world wars. Only selfishness and racianalistic thoughts ruled over the world then. Thousands of people wounded and died in the wars and riots. People divided among themselves and splitted into groups and races. As like the story of  the fox which tried to make the goats to fight, someone took the role of devils and started working behind the curtain in order to grow hatred among these groups. Where will be an end of these types of evil activities. To put an end to a living being is easy. but to make it alive, it is difficult. So lets long for a world without wars and partialities, walls and groups, lets wait for a world which gives everybody to feel love, safety and protection. Lets wait for the world emerges into a new renaissance that leads to peace to humankind. Lets hate wars, lets wait for love and peace. LETS DO AS MUCH AS WE CAN TO MAKE THAT DAY A REALITY

RULES ON THE ROAD

Dear friends,
I think it is our duty to strictly follow the traffic rules. Everyday a lot of people loss their lives in road accidents. A minor mistake leads to a major disaster. Our lives is a boon from God to us. It is so precious. Since man is living in a social network, we depend others and we have dependants too. We should not forget about this. While driving a motor vehicle we should be very much cautious. We should follow certain ethics on the Road. Never keep the wrong side, don’t overcome other vehicles without giving signal to the drivers, always keep a moderate speed. It is a fashion now a days to say that I like rash driving. I don’t think that it is right. Bike riding has become a craze for the youths. We can admit it. But only with much attention. Never forget to wear helmet and seat belts. Always think that only the steering is in our hand, not the wheels. It is flexible, means can go to any direction. So be careful while driving. Everything will be alright only when everything goes in the right way..   Otherwise, I think u know that………..
Enjoy your driving by following the RULES ON THE ROAD. What would you say about this……………

With love and regards
 Yours Sivadasan M

THE ROAD THAT CONNECTS US

Since I value you very much, respect you very much, like you very much, I would like the road that connects us should be clean and beautiful. But what I am seeing now. It has become like a dustbin now. People spit on it. Pass urine on it sides. Digs here and there. Throwing wastes on its chest. Why is it so?. I think the roads are the landmarks of history. They are the symbol of proud. Helps a country to become being developed. We know all these things. Even then we spit on it. I have seen a lot of guys wearing fashion dresses, driving latest motorcycles, giving the expression of most modern, spits on the road while driving, and the splash formed by it not only makes the road dirty also wets the passerby.
While waiting for someone we makes designs on the road by spitting. In the same way I have noticed, the drivers of some vehicle, while waiting for their passengers also makes the same designs on the road near the seat by spitting.  If we are in any foreign countries there the rules are strict, we don’t do this. But once we stepped into our native land,we starts this habit again. We think that we are well educated, modern and so and so. Then we should have some good habits also. Individual hygiene is also a factor that determines ones character. So let us  take a decision not to spit on the roads. Let us makes the roads that connect us more beautiful since they are the milestones of a beautiful journey from the past to future that made us civilized..

ELECTION A GATE WAY TO A REAL DEMOCRACY

It is our duty to use our voting right. It is our freedom to choose any candidate of any political parties. But before using this right we should think, think about past, present and future of our country. As a citizen of India, we are all like to live in an India free from  poverty, communal ism and terrorism. We should think of an India enriched with peace. We should think of an India where women can travel without fear. We should think of an India free from all types of exploitations. We should think of an India where bribe has no role in getting a work done. Who can mould an India like this select him by using your voting right. The world is changing. We also need to change. We have to live in a more developed India. We  should make it a reality. For this purpose we had better think before we expressing our voting right. We need a change from those country roads filled with gutters. We should make our journeys a new experience forgetting those trips in the crowded buses and trains. We should demand all those facilities a modern society need in a fast moving world. We should make our country to compete with any other developed countries of this world in any sector. We have man power, skill, resources everything here. We need good leaders who can lead us through the right path to a better tomorrow, can lead our country towards prosperity.  Understand the right persons and select them. Beyond politics think of ideals of a person, his capabilities, leadership quality, by taking all these select them who can rule our country, lead our country, can return the real value of a vote.

SHOW OF REALITY

Dear friends,

It was an ewe of  Bakrid. I and Risha were on our way to city. He wanted me to buy a jeans for him. When we reached near the bridge, we saw Nasreen, carrying a bag in her hand, coming from the opposite side. I know her, belongs to a low middle class family, the fourth girl of five sisters, her father was no more. She was fair in complexion, beautiful, but there were dark layers below her eyes. The time has started to taken back the colourfulness  of her youth. Among the five sisters only the elder one was married. Whenever I asked her about the marriage, she would say we don’t have gold and money to give as dowry, so how is it possible.

It is a harsh reality of the girls of the poor families to face. The dowry has become an inevitable obligation of the bride’s parents of  the Indian sub continent.  When the boy’s family demands dowry in the form of gold and money, what will the parents of the middle class families do. Last week, when a boy came to see my friend Niyas’s sister they asked openly Rs.2 lakhs and 40 sovereigns of gold. In such situation the parents of the girls may forced to sell even their houses to conduct the marriage of their daughters. This is the reality show which has been continuing its episodes for a long time in our society.

Everybody may speak about religions, faiths, morals etc., but never copy the good aspects from the holy books and make it practical in their lives.   According to Islam religion, The mahr (dowry) is something that is paid by the man to his wife. It is paid to the wife and to her only as an honour and a respect given to her and to show that he has a serious desire to marry her and is not simply entering into the marriage contract without any sense of responsibility and obligation or effort on his part.  It is a wonderful thought. Since marriage is a sacred relationship between two souls, the bride herself will be the most valuable dowry for the groom. We should think that way. So my dear friends on this good day we should promise, never ask dowry, never seek dowry, never go behind dowry. What do you think about this?

WHEN THE CURTAIN RISES

It was a Sunday evening. The world outside was seemed very gloomy due to heavy rain. There were the sounds of breaking of twigs and slashing of window frames in the strong wind.  I was correcting the strings of my guitar. Since it was not an apt time for outing, I decided to spend the evening at my house itself. Then Risha came in. He was completely wet. His jeans and shirt laid stick to his body. I felt as like he was not bothered about it.The expression on his face seemed to me as like he was burning from something.

Breaking the silence after a few moments he asked me “how can be a man so cruel to others? Everybody is selfish. Only thinking about them” He continued.  He was just come to my house after watching a film which narrates the suffering of a house maid. His question was a right one. Now days the violence towards women has been increased.

Circumstances made women to go abroad and work for their family.  But against their expectations they have to suffer a lot. They have been tortured in different ways. We can know it from the newspapers. We read about reports of women brutally raped and killed.  Now here is a question. Can anyone think about a life without women?. As a mother, sister, wife, daughter, friend, we all experience her love. So, it is our duty to protect her. Respect her.  Help her to get a good atmosphere to live with us. What would u say??????????

AROUND THE TABLE WITH ONE MIND

I still remember that day during winter, while I was having tea with Risha’s family. It was Risha who called me there to clear his doubt in Anatomy since it was a little bit tough subject for him. While I was helping my friend in his subject, his mother called me for a cut of tea. We were gathered around the dining table; me, Risha, his three brothers and parents. Risha’s mother Mrs.Hairunnisa was an expert in making tea. But the tight bond among their family was more attractive. While sipping the tea each one was waiting for their own turn to say about their that day’s experiences and there after a discussion regarding it. Rishas’s father Mr.Hamsa started first with his job site’s experiences, then his younger brother Rashi with his school experiences, like that it continued. It was their usual practice to share each and everything with the family. There were no secrets, no tensions, everything was revealed in front of the family. How nice it was. I appreciated Mr & Mrs. Hamsa in my mind for giving their children such a practice.
No doubt, this type of communication may bring tremendous results in a person’s life. If anybody is
going to skip from the right path, they can be easily cleared by giving suitable guidelines. In our ups and downs our family will be there with the right hand. So never hide anything from family. Even if we are busy, we should find time for mingling with our parent s and other beloveds and to share our own experiences with them. Sometimes, it will save us from many dangers.  No doubt, at the feet of our parents is our real paradise

OLD IS GOLD

The Dispensary was crowded with people. Even then, there prevailed a beautiful silence. The dispensary was located in the suburb of the city, in the midst of rich greenery. Chairs were neatly arranged in the courtyard, near the garden. Our token number was forty five and we were waiting for our turn. Oh, for your curiousness, I and Risha. He had a stomach pain for the last few days and I thought he had better consult this doctor. He was lying by putting his head on my shoulder.
Then an old man of about seventy years old came in and sat besides us. He was panting heavily as like suffering from asthma. Breathing heavily he asked my token number.  His number was fifty four. It was very difficult for him to wait there.  But this problem was solved when I approached the doctor’s secretary and told her about this man. While he was going to make a move, he expressed his gratitude to me.  “Always take somebody with you”.  While taking him to the nearest bus stop I told him. Yes, God is always with me. He smiled and told me. I saw tears in his eyes. When I asked him about his family, He started his story. As like many senior citizens he was also leading a lonely life. Once upon a time he had a colorful family with four children. He gave his children a very nice life, taught them well. But after taking their professional degrees, they had their own plans.   All of them went abroad and settled there, never find time for their parents. His wife was with him till her death. Now he leads a very lonely life, without complaints and never blaming his children,  using the pension he was getting since he was in service.
Is it right to avoid our old parents and grandparents. When a man becomes old he needs more attention. Moreover it is our parents who did their best throughout their life to make their children happy. We are obliged to them always. What we have today is theirs too. Give them consideration, give them protection and give them the real warmth of love. Don’t forget that we also become old once in our life and may have to face the same situation. What would you say?

LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOUR AS YOURSELF

- Proverbs 3:5-6
Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’  ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’

Sitting facing to the sea, watching the children playing football on the beach, Sneha told me, “look at them, no worries, no hurries, only pleasure”. She was right. Those children were fully engaged in playing. “But when they become grown-ups, there starts every thing…..” She continued. She was absolutely right. Being standing at the threshold between adolescence and youth a person has so many options there to choose. These options makes a person what he is in his later life. As like the sayings of the well known poem ‘The road not taken’ written by Robert Frost, a man should be versatile while selecting the route of his life. The failure in the selection, adversely affect a person’s career. Hence, one should be taught about life, relationships, different types of careers from his boyhood days itself. It will help him to keep an aim for his life. Here one thing is very important. He should be taught to love each other, love his neighbours. Physically, a  family’s background starts from the neighbourhood. If each of the families of this world starts to love their neighbours as their own family members, it will have a very good result. Since family is the basic unit of a society, our world will become a lovely global village enriched with love, affection and patience. So, keeping this in mind let us starts to love our neighbours and help them as our owns. In turn, we also be loved by others and it makes an internet of families linked by the bonds of love.
May God bless you to make your path of life always filled with joy and peace.

Luke 11:10 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.

THE BEST FRIEND

Where is my friend, my real friend?
I searched for him everywhere,
From the past, continuing today,
Without an end, I search for him.
Where are you, my friend?
Come and give me a hand,
I am nothing without you,
I am something with you,
They have started their game again;
I need your presence here once again;
They don’t allow the tiny buds to grow,
They mould them only for a show.
They want to keep them in a showcase
They place a price tag around their neck.
This is not the case of a bud here,
But the same case of all buds and flowers,
To make them bloom into a new world
Help them to fulfill their dreams
Before being crushed under their feet
I need a protector to save them.
Its you, only you, but where are you?
It’s too late, awake from your winter sleep,
Your presence may give their fragrance back;
May return those happy days once they had,
Feeling safe, they may smile again forever,
Their hearts may fill with enthusiasm and feel,
There is someone as a guardian angel,
To reduce the pain of their present birth.

SHE......................

She can be a flower but never be a thorn
Then call her by the name of a flower,
She can be a mother and be a sister,
She can be a wife but never be an enemy
Since she carries a heart which is filled with
Love and affection of a mother always,
She can be a goddess when nothing is there
Since she serves everything for the family
How does she make a meal? No one bothers,
But at the time of lunch the table is ready.
She keeps everything neat and tidy
Preserves something for the next day,
She works for the family every day
Around the clock without complaints
Changing herself as a symbol of love,
She has to face harassments and violence.
From the family and outside world,
In return for her good deeds she does
Oh my world, you are nothing without her
Please value her identity her virtue
Since she is there in our own mother

BE YOUR OWN BOSS

When I was in my teens I used to spend my evening times near a school ground of my locality. From here and there players would come there to play football. One day while I was watching the match, a player fell on the ground by slipping his foot. On the spot his coach came there. Instead of giving him some first aid, he shouted at him and said.“Be your own boss, otherwise you can’t be a good player”. Later on different occasions I recalled that man’s words. He was very right. We should be our own leader, boss and guide. Since the life trail is a complicated one there may be the chances of hazards and challenges that one should face with. If we have control on our own life, if we are the master ourselves, definitely we can find out solutions during critical situations very easily, for the reason that we know ourselves better than anybody. Making decisions is very important. Right decision on the right time gives better results. Every person on this earth has to fulfil certain duties, formalities, obligations etc..., We have to find each of these and complete them with determination. Never lost on this life trail, try to win always. Dear friends I wish you all a very nice time with your friends and relatives. May god bless you.
