SHADOWS…………….

The winter lanterns softly glow

Through curtains of misty snow.
The breeze carries flakes of white,
Painting the evening silver-bright.

The road stretches toward the horizon,
Vanishing where the woods lie frozen.
Night stitches her enchanted gown,
For a dance with shadows, swirling down.

Venus and stars adorn her hair,
The moon weaves veils with tender care.
The sky braids clouds like silken thread,
Lining her cloak with silver spread.

Long shadows, like hags, await her near,
Stretching claws in twilight’s sphere.
They circle round like a fierce tornado,
Welcoming her in delirious bravado.

Frenzied spirits hide in shade,
Demand their part in night’s charade.
With magic wands, they whirl and spin,
Mesmerizing all who wander in.

As twilight perches at night’s door,
Shadows stretch across the floor.
Like octopus arms, dark and wide,
They cloak the land where secrets hide.

Their reign lasts only till dawn’s light,
When golden rays break through the night.
With casket bright, the sun appears,
Chasing shadows, ending fears.
